Regulatory

Hogan Brown has acted on behalf of a number of clients who have faced allegations brought against them by professional disciplinary and regulatory bodies.

Such proceedings can bring do great damage to the reputation of organisations and individuals. The powers which are available to the various regulatory bodies are wide-ranging. They can include financial penalties, temporary or permanent suspension from practice and in some cases, a prohibition on tendering for public contracts.

We advise on dealing with interviews arranged by the bodies concerned, drafting written representations, dealing with the individual’s employment rights and if appropriate, designing an effective media strategy.

In the past, we have had experience of defending in proceedings brought by the General Medical Council, the Health and Safety Executive, Trading Standards, the Security Industry Authority, Police Disciplinary Panels, and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

For reasons of confidentiality towards our clients and as a matter of policy we do not disclose information which might be used to identify them.
